Released on November 1st, Jimmy Fallon’s Christmas album has begun to make its mark on the Christmas season. |
Jimmy Fallon, a comedian and host of “The Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon” has been releasing music throughout his career, with this being his third album in total. This year to celebrate the upcoming holiday season he’s released a new album “Holiday Seasoning.”
The album covers the holidays Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. The album itself comes out to be about thirty-eight minutes in total with sixteen songs. It features guest appearances from other artists like Jonas Brothers, Meghan Trainor, Justin Timberlake, Dolly Parton, Ariana Grande, Will Ferrell, Chelsea Handler and “Weird Al” Yankovic. The release of the album has spawned both a television special where the talk show host and his guests performed the album live and an appearance on the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade. One of the bigger songs on album “Holiday” which features the Jonas Brothers has topped #1 on the Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart and has been on the chart itself for five weeks now. Another popular song on the album is Fallon’s and The Roots “Hey Rudy” which was the song performed at the Macy’s parade. The reviews on the album have been mixed with most giving it anywhere from a three star rating to five stars across multiple rating services. The lowest ratings commonly point out some of the blatant auto tune and in their words “unfunny” lyrics. While the auto tune part is true and the songs can get a bit repetitive in tone, people need to keep in mind that Fallon is not a singer by trade and he never claimed that he was. About it being “unfunny” everyone has their own sense of humor and it seems that most of his diehard fans really like this album. So to only judge it by how funny you think it is, is harsh. |
Overall the album is a fun twist on the different holidays and is definitely worth a listen this holiday season. Though it has its flaws and isn’t a perfect album by any means, but if Fallon’s comedy style is something you’re into this would be a great album to check out. |
