On March 17, 18 and 19, the annual ShamROCKS festival for St. Patrick’s Day is going to be held at Miller Point by the McHenry Riverwalk.

The ShamROCKS Festival is and event that will that throughout three days celebrating St. Patrick’s day.

Friday, March 17,  the Feel Good Leprechauns are playing from 5-6:15 p.m. From 6:30-8:30 pm, the Vinyl Goldmine will be playing. To close out the night, from 9-11 p.m., 7th Heaven will be playing. 

On Saturday, the Shamrock Shuffle will take place at 8 a.m. and at 10 a.m. The Shamrock Shuffle is a 5k that will start at the Freshman Campus. There will be a Fox River dying. At 12 p.m. there will be a Shamrocks Parade and the festivities will continue from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. 

“For the parade, the entries line up on Kane near Duker School,” Molly Ostap, President of The Chamber of Commerce says. “The route goes from there to Green Street to Pearl Street to Riverside Drive ending at Broad Street.”

On Sunday March 19, Jess Piano Goes Wild will play from 12-1:30 p.m. Onset will be playing from 2-4 p.m. and Goos Roos plays from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The festival is going to span over three days this year beginning on St. Patrick’s Day and ending Sunday.

“They extended the festival to 3 days this year because St. Patrick’s Day actually falls on Friday this year,” Ostap said. “In the past, they have done Saturday and Sunday, but it makes sense for the festivities to start on the actual holiday if they can!”

The Shamrock Shuffle will take place on March 18th at Freshman Campus and includes all ages.

According to The McHenry Chamber of Commerce website, “McHenry Kiwanis presents the Annual McHenry Shamrock Shuffle in Loving Memory of the Life and Volunteerism of Robert J. Mortell. The Shamrock Shuffle includes an all-ages 5K.”

The day of the race is Saturday, March 18 and will start at the Freshman Campus.
