This year’s freshman AVID group has organized clothing drives at Upper and Freshman Campuses during the month of April.
All of the clothes the AVID group receives will be going to the organization Moms of McHenry County.
Kandyce Miller, the student in charge, explains why they chose this group, stating ”People don’t understand how much moms sacrificed for their kids,”.
Moms of McHenry County plan on reselling all of the clothes and items they receive in order to help struggling parents.
Grace Pfeifer has helped organize the drive and collected the donations. “We have received about four bags of clothing plus a bag of shoes.”
Moms of McHenry County’s resale is on April 12 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 1023 S. McHenry Ave in Crystal Lake at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
“Because our project got started late,” Miller says, “we’re gonna give it a little more time and maybe a little more than that and carry it into April.”
