A student was walking down the hallway early in the morning before the bell rang. They were looking at their phone realizing that Tyler the Creator’s “Chromakopia” was out on Spotify. They have been waiting for the album to come out since its announcement.
Back on Oct. 16, Tyler, the Creator released a teaser song for his new album “Chromakopia,” the teaser being called “St. Chroma,” it is also the first song on the album. Showing “Tyler the Creator’s” new alter ego, on Oct. 28 the album was officially released. The following songs being: “St.Chroma,” “Rah Tah Tah,” “Noid,” “Darling, I,” “Hey Jane,” “I Killed You,” “Judge Judy,” “Sticky,” “Take Your Mask Off,” “Tomorrow,” “Thought I Was Dead,” “Like Him,” “Balloon” and lastly “I Hope You Find Your Way Home.”
”I thought that it was good, and I like the fact that he included his vocals a lot more in this album,” said Sophia Stabenow, a junior at MCHS. “But I also thought it was very relatable to the other albums, but also very different. I like how he does in all his albums, his work. He shared a lot of elements from previous albums,” said Stabenow, “like I saw a lot of ‘Call me if you get lost’ in and also some ‘Wolf’ elements. But it was also very different like ‘Igor,’ and also has some of those elements. But very, very different, which he kind of does in each album.”
Many other people had similar opinions of the album but there were some people who were slightly disappointed with the small amount of features there were in the album.
“I was a big fan of the album. I think the overall track length is really good.” Anthony Schillaci said.“The features were good, even though it was somewhat disappointing, because there were a lot of features that missed the album. I think it was, overall, like a great experience to listen to.”
For some people they believed it was a good album but it isn’t one of the best ones from Tyler the Creator.
“I thought it was pretty good personally, it’s not my favorite just because of the style of music, like cherry bomb is my favorite just because it’s a rock and rap album,” said Stabennow. “But I thought it was pretty good.”
After school ended and the student listened to the album, they really liked the features that it had but wished there were some more overall the album was enjoyable.
