On Monday, the Board of Education approved for Freshman Campus principal Gregory Eiserman to serve as the Upper Campus principal for the 2025-26 school year.
Eiserman has served the school community for 25 years as a teacher, department chair, building administrator and most recently, as the Freshman Campus Principal. He was approached for this position when the administrators were informed of current Upper Campus principal Dr. Jeff Prickett’s leave.
He wants to focus on supporting staff and students and wants to make sure everyone feels great about working at Upper Campus.
“Dr. McTague approached me after Dr. P informed us he was leaving,” said Eiserman. “We discussed the opening and I told him my goal has always been to be principal at West and now the Upper Campus. I love the Freshman Campus but I am ready for the next step.”
Something that Eiserman does for the district is making sure there is a connection and making sure everyone feels as if they belong.
“He has really built this kind of connective community where kids really have a sense of belonging,” Superintendent Dr. Ryan McTague, “and his staff members and students really respect him.”
Eiserman seemed to be a natural choice for the position because of everything he has done for the district.
“He was a really natural choice based on the work he’s done in his career,” says McTague, “in experience, and knowledge.”
Making the Upper Campus feel smaller is a goal to achieve within the next school year.
“One hard part about the Upper Campus is just the sheer size of it and how it naturally separates the staff,” Eiserman said. “One major goal will be to figure out how to make the UC feel smaller.”
Another goal is to improve the transition for incoming sophomores to be successful at the Upper Campus.
“One primary goal I have is to dive deep into the sophomore year and improve that transition for our students,” says Eiserman. “The current freshman class has been pretty successful and I want to investigate all aspects of the transition to ensure we set up our sophs for continued success as they move to the UC.”
Having experience is something that the school was looking for in a principal like Eiserman.
“Since Eiserman was already an administrator in the district,” says McTague, “I recommended him to appoint him to the principal position here at Upper Campus.”
Eiserman and McTague share a lot of the same goals for the school.
“I’ve worked with Mr. Eiserman for a long time,” McTague said, “and he’s just a fantastic partner. He’s a man of character, he’s passionate about being a leader in this district and we share the same mindset and goals.”
There are a lot of reasons why McTague is excited to work with Eiserman, especially making sure everything is achieved.
“I look forward to working with Eiserman because of the mindset,” says McTague. “We’ve really spent a lot of time and resources on that Freshman Campus because we really want to make sure that they are high school ready.”
District 156 posted the open Freshman Campus principal position on Tuesday morning and will begin interviewing candidates in the coming months.
