Five of the football players at MCHS made All-Conference for the Fox Valley Conference. Those players being Aiden Ramirez, James Butler, Jeremy Beese, Chase Miller and Jeffry Schwab.
Varsity Quarterback Jeffry Schwab says, “My most memorable moment of the season was probably our first win during week one vs Dundee Crown.”
The MCHS football teams record this year was 3-6 which is an improvement from the two previous years where they went 2-7 and 0-9.
Varsity Defensive Back James Butler agrees that, “my most memorable moment was Week one against Dundee Crown,” he adds that the best part of it was, “getting an interception and being able to run it back, that was mainly memorable because it was a big changing moment in the game, and really helped us stay in the game.”
In order to make all conference players must get nominated by their head coach. Football Head coach Colt Nero explains, “once nominated, all coaches review the candidates and vote to determine who earns All-Conference honors.
Teams receive a certain number of guaranteed selections based on how many conference wins they earned, and additional spots are filled through at-large voting, where coaches can advocate for deserving players.”
“As a coach, having players receive All-Conference recognition is incredibly rewarding because it reflects their leadership, their work ethic, and their impact not only on our team but across the entire conference,” Nero continues. “It feels like all of their hard work has paid off, and you’re simply grateful and proud to see them honored.”
According to Football Foundation, only 7.8% of high school football players end up playing in college.
“Some of the most memorable moments from this season came from watching our guys never stop working, never quit, and continue handling adversity as it came,” Nero says. “They were willing to do whatever it took to help us win games—and to win them the right way, together. Everyone on our team played an important role, but our All-Conference players consistently stood out as true impact players who elevated the standard and represented what it means to be a Warrior.”
As the season came to an end, the Warriors walked off the field proud of how far they had come. The All-Conference players showed that hard work and teamwork really do pay off, starting with that big win in Week one. As Coach Nero said, they truly showed, “what it means to be a Warrior,” leaving a season worth remembering.
