McHenry citizens, along with MCHS students and staff, gathered at Upper Campus to celebrate veterans returning from the annual VNC Honor Flight trip to Washington D.C. on August 24.

During the ceremony the MCHS cheer team, Vocal Warriors and MCHS band provided music and entertainment for everyone there anticipating the veterans arrivals. Once the veterans’ buses arrived, they got to embrace and reconnect with their families after their trip.

“It was so nice to welcome all the veterans back home.” junior cheerleader Grace Schomer says, “It’s always really heartwarming.”

The Honor Flight Welcome Home Ceremony was coordinated by the Veterans Network Committee of Northern Illinois.
