On July 18, MCHS’s cross-country team hosted their very first open Speed Night. This event was available to any and all athletes of MCHS.
The purpose of this event was to test an athlete’s speed ability. Every athlete got 3 tries to run 40 yards as fast as they could. With the cross country coaches and team supporting each other, some athletes were able to make a new personal record. This event was to bring up athletes confidence as well as having a little bit of fun.
Junior baseball player Jackson Hatfield talks about how speed and an athletes mentality can be a gamechanger. “Speed training is my 2nd most important training behind mental because speed can give you a huge advantage over other athletes who don’t have it. I would for sure go back next year it was fun and I feel like it brought people together and helped boost peoples confidence by cheering for one another to achieve their running goals”
