Warrior Student Media walked around the school to celebrate competition wins, including members who made it to State
Warrior Student Media endured their first ever Walk of Champs to support their state finalists and celebrate all their wins this year.

Members of Warrior Student Media were led through the Upper Campus halls by the marching band on April 5 during AIM to celebrate state finalists in the IHSA State Journalism Tournament.

Students who competed at Sectionals on April 6 and placed in the top three went to State.

Five members from Newspaper, including freelancers, traveled from McHenry to Normal for finals. Students who compete at state are able to showcase their skills and compete against other student journalists..

“I was mostly excited to be in a professional setting with every kid there for the same reason; I enjoy those kinds of situations even if it’s intimidating,” senior Lydia Lawrence said. “I was excited to have one last field trip with one of my favorite teachers and a great group as well!”

Though the team didn’t place in any of their categories, they y overcame challenges under pressure and pushed themselves to do their best in tough situations at State.
