March is Youth Art Month, and MCHS’s National Art Honors Society celebrate student art and creativity on Thursday.
During lunch periods, NAHS set up tables outside the cafeteria encouraging students to get involved and excited about art. Students were able to participate in multiple activities such as making origami art or simply coloring.
NAHS members handed out stickers and coloring books composed of student-created artwork and doodles.
“Throughout the year,” said art teacher Jessica Metropulos, “I had students create different designs. We compiled them into a coloring book, and we also had a couple of students design stickers to pass out, just to bring awareness to the arts in our school and share it with our school community.”
Youth Art Month allows students the room to celebrate their love for art, giving them the platform to share their own art and appreciate the work of others.
“It’s just a fun chance to have students’ art out there beyond just hanging on a wall or stuck in a folder or something,” said Metropulos. “It’s an opportunity to share it.”
