The 2025 senior class is no longer allowed to purchase their chromebooks after they graduate at MCHS.
For years, MCHS has allowed graduating seniors to buy their Chromebooks for about 20 dollars, but this year because of the quality of their computers, students will not be able to buy their own.
According to assistant technology director Kevin Kuchina, forms to return and purchase Chromebooks will be handed out.
These forms require all seniors to return their current computers, but gives them the option to purchase one of the older, loner models for 20 dollars. This money can be turned in to the main office either as a check or in cash.
Seniors can’t buy their Chromebooks because they are compatible for the testing that is required, while the technology department’s loner Chromebooks are not.
“Our current Chromebook cart models aren’t going to be able to be used for testing anymore next year,” Kuchina said. “We’re replacing those carts with the 300 E model, which is what the seniors have.”
This means the tech department is switching loner computers out for what the graduating seniors currently have.
“We had a meeting at one point,” senior Aiden Fogelson said. “Someone asked about it [buying the Chromebooks]. They said, no, because they’re a new model.”
While the seniors haven’t gotten the information on how to buy the loner computers yet, they will be getting it soon.
