The FVC transtioned to online tickets for certain sports. The fans of the teams are supposed to purchase the ticket when their team has an away game rather than paying in cash.

MCHS students are paying for game tickets on a new online system beginning this year.

Though students can still get into home games for free by showing their student ID, they will have to pay four dollars to get into any FVC away game, and adults will have to pay six dollars. These tickets can be purchased on the GoFan website or app.

“It is faster, easier, and there is no cash exchange, and then we have a dashboard as a school that shows what our ticket sales were,” stated Chris Madson, MCHS’s Athletic Director. “Then that gets directly deposited instead of us having to go to a bank and dealing with cash and all that stuff.”

As of right now, tickets are only needed for sports such as basketball, football, volleyball and wrestling, which customers can purchase online.

“All major credit cards are accepted, along with debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay,” wrote Amy Maciaszek on MCHS’s school website.

Members of the community are caution to this new system due to the games preferring people to not use cash.

“They are making people pay in card and not cash so that’s also difficult for some people… It might make people change their mind about going,” says Jackie Stauner, sophomore at MCHS.

Compared to younger generations, some older people will not be as familiar with the new online system, according to Derek Galivicius, coach and staff member at MCHS.

While people will have to adjust to this new system, this change can benefit them.

“It is change we must adapt to and we are willing to,” said Rob Niemic, MCHS’s fall assistant Athletic Director. “We can promote and sell digital tickets everywhere our fans are – online and at school. All of the events are posted on our branded school ticketing page, where fans can easily discover upcoming events and buy tickets.”

While the GoFan system will be new and different, it will make purchasing game tickets easier because they can be bought ahead of time using most forms of online payment with little effort.
