On wednesday Jan. 22 Netflix announced that they were planning on raising their prices.
The shares of Netflix went up 12% just a few hours after Netflix announced that they were raising their prices.
Daniel Palermo says, “I watch Netflix 6-8 hours a week.”
The ad-supported tier is increasing from $6.99 to $7.99 per month, the ad-free tier will go from $15.49 to $17.99 per month, and the premium tier is also increasing from $22.99 to $24.99 per month.
Palermo says, “If my patients stopped paying for Netflix I’d probably just watch normal TV.”
Netflix got 19 million new subscribers over the past few months that’s the most it’s ever gotten in a single quarter.
Isis Flores says, “I use Netflix alot but if it gets too expensive I’ll use Disney plus more.”
Netflix is the most used streaming app with 282.7 million subscribers, Prime video is second with a little over 200 million, Disney plus is third with 153.6 million.
The price raise will go into effect for people on their next payment period after Jan. 22 2025.
