The long-awaited show “IT: Welcome to Derry,” is finally here. After the prequel’s original announcement in March 2022, fans are excited to see what this adds to the universe of Stephen King’s “IT.”
The continuation of the IT series started on Oct. 26 This new series on HBO Max will take place in the 1960’s and adds more to the universe of IT. Originally a best selling book with over 350 million copies sold, according to WordsRated. Two different direct adaptations were made from the book, the first being the 1990 mini-series, the second being the two separate movies “IT” and “IT Part Two.”
This show will be following the most recent additions to the franchise, that being “IT” and “IT Chapter Two.”
“IT: Welcome to Derry,” is going to follow multiple storylines that will overlap and intersect with each other. It will follow a new group of kids experiencing who see what is going on in Derry but choose not to talk about it. It will also be following a storyline involving the U.S. Military, who have become aware of the existence of “IT.”
This show is one of the first new perspectives fans of “IT” have received, pretty much since the book’s release in 1986.
Leading most fans to be excited to know more about the back story that caused all of the bad this town has experienced.
Though there have been some upset fans at the news, the actual clown that haunts Derry will not be shown until later in the series. It is still expected to be a great addition to the franchise.
With there being so much previous content to work with, and HBO’s reputation specifically with Stephen King works, there is very little to not be excited about when it comes to this prequel.
