On a moonlit Halloween night, a youngster in their spooky costume wanders their neighborhood searching for houses that appeal to their expectations. The kid walks up and rings one house’s doorbell. While decorations are a good contributor to the visuals, nothing looks better than a tray full of king sized treats when the door opens up. “Trick-or-treat!”
When thinking of the Autumn season, some think of trees changing color or pumpkins, but most people tend to think about Halloween and one of its cash cows; Candy.
The Messenger put together a list of the 5 best grabs out of the candy bowl for this year’s season. Some treats are so good they don’t even need to be King-sized.
In fifth place, Snickers. Snickers are chocolate bars consisting of nougat with caramel and peanuts.
You can’t go wrong with M&M’s, so in fourth place all M&M’s varieties are acceptable. Between regular, peanut, caramel or pretzel, M&M’s are a strong contestant, but not quite the best.
Coming in third, Reese’s takes the bronze medal. Reese’s are chocolate peanut butter filled cups and a top-selling candy brand worldwide.
The silver medal worthy candy, Twix bars, take second place. A Twix is a shortbread biscuit covered with caramel and then coated again with chocolate that’s hard to resist.
An honorable mention out of the candy bowl are feastables. Feastables are a chocolate bar brand created by the YouTuber, Mr. Beast.
Finally, the candy that takes the gold for this year’s Halloween season are the trending Nerds Gummy Clusters. These colorful berry gummies are coated with crunchy nerds and are essentially a bite-sized version of the popular Nerd ropes.
Top 5 worst candies that should be left in the bowl when trick-or-treating this year.

The Messenger put together a list of the top 5 worst Halloween candies that should be left out of the trick-or-treat bowls this year.
Coming in fifth place, Twizzlers were not a class favorite. Twizzlers are a strawberry licorice with a not very pleasant waxy taste and tough texture that isn’t enjoyable, especially for Halloween.
Although this next candy is a spooky season classic, candy corn did not make the cut for one of the best Halloween candies. Despite it being a Halloween classic, it was unanimous that the wax texture and artificial taste of candy corn don’t make it an enjoyable treat.
Now getting into the top 3, with its original sweet and sour lemon shell, LemonHeads made this list for its sour interior is extremely acidic, causing an unpleasant experience.
When trick-or-treating, receiving this second spot title would be more of a trick as the criminally sweet shell mixed with the bitter black licorice taste of Good n’ Plentys would be a mean excuse for a treat this Halloween.
Halloween is filled with tricks and treats, but this top spot is far worse than a trick, but more of a deceptive prank as the spicy and fiery taste of Hot Tamales takes the top spot for the worst Halloween candy as the spicy flavor is not what anybody wants to snack on this Halloween.
Treats are supposed to be filled with a sweet, decadent, and delicious flavor whether it is a classic chocolate bar or a bag of Sour Patch Watermelons, Halloween is supposed to be filled with delicious snacks. The gross, bitter, candies that made this list are a sorry excuse for an appropriate treat this Halloween.
