“IT: Welcome to Derry” has become one of the most popular shows of the year 2025. It wrapped up the first of three seasons in Dec. and has been widely successful. Overall, this was a wonderful first season of the show.
From Sunday Oct. 26 2025 to Sunday Dec. 14 2025, the TV show “IT: Welcome to Derry” was being released. Through those months the show grew in popularity, even having a viral audio taken from the theme song that was used across social media.
In the first season of the show, “IT: Welcome to Derry” has garnered many fans. The viewership peaked at the last episode with a viewership of 6.5 million people. This is just the start of the success that the show has garnered.
One of the best parts of this show was the complexities of the characters. Each character brought something to the show that was memorable. My personal favorites were Rich Santos and Marge Truman. Both of these characters and their dynamic added so much emotion to the story this season. Though all of the characters this season added so many layers to the plot.
Another positive is that they did not shy away from the gore this season. While some people may view this as negative, when compared to other horror series and movies that have come out recently, having something that doesn’t shy away from gore can bring the horror back to the horror genre. Some examples of this are the scene in episode four when Marge’s eyes are popping out of her head, along with the scene in episode two when Lilly Bainbridge gets trapped in the pickle aisle and sees her dad.
Though there are some issues that fans had. There were some parts that were hard to follow without previous knowledge from the book or other media. An example of this is the character of Dick Halloran. While his character’s importance is still understood, there are some references that don’t land with many people. To understand some of this, prior knowledge is required. This also becomes an issue when understanding what the entity IT is, and the abilities IT possesses.
All in all, this was an amazing first season, and continuation of the lore of the IT franchise.
