As the Grammys monologue and opening performance plays on TVs around the United States, Trevor Noah, the Grammys host starts off his usual mix of passion and comedic wit, with a side of political jokes. The Grammys had picked some weird winners but there was one artist that deserved all the recognition and awards he got, Bad Bunny’s win is more than just his music, it’s about representation and character.
The 2026 Grammys wasn’t a big mess like past years, but still needed fixing. “Manchild” was up for almost every category and didn’t win, “Wildflower” being nominated and won but was released two years ago. And artists attacking ICE and letting everyone know they like their ice crushed.
The best part of this year’s Grammys, was artists saying “ICE OUT” with their pins and in their speeches, also mocking president Donald Trump. Whether it was the ceremony’s pre-show or CBS live broadcasting, Grammy winners did not sugar coat what they thought about ICE. Following that a Spanish-speaking artist has won three of the biggest categories and is the Super Bowl halftime performer during all this conflict with ICE.
“We’re not savage. We’re not animals. We’re not aliens. We are humans. And we are Americans,” Bad Bunny said after receiving his Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album.
People could say at the Grammys you should be professional while there’s other people in the crowd watching you or because you’re on live TV. But it was a chance to tell the world to wake up and fight.
The worst part was the performances. Except Justin Bieber, he just had his mic, guitar and keyboard, no dancers, no backup signers and no crazy outfit. But, who let the tiktokers on stage? Alex Warren with his song “Ordinary” that’s a song you can’t get away from, it’s the type of song you’d play in an elevator. Same with Addison Rae, she could use a little more autotune. Also Why was Post Malone doing Ozzy Osbourne’s tribute while YUNGBLUD was in the crowd, when he had been on Ozzy’s side the last few months before he had passed.
Another person who had deserved a Grammy for her song “Messy” also performing it that night, was Lola Young, she had fainted mid-song and was carried off stage a few months prior. She announced she would take a hiatus and canceled her upcoming shows and then she made a comeback at the Grammys, winning Best Pop Solo Performance marking her first televised performance since the incident.
People could think otherwise that Celebrities shouldn’t speak their opinion, because their fans or supporters aren’t old enough and “don’t know what they are talking about.”. Throw back to 2021, “Blinding Lights” by the Weeknd was nominated for a Grammy and was the biggest song of the year at the time and was on the Billboard Hot 100 for 90 weeks, and didn’t even get nominated, but why did “Wildflower” by Billie Eilish win a Grammy when it was on Top 100 for only 72 weeks?
