As sports come to an end of their season, MCHS celebrates the class of 2026 by celebrating them on our senior nights. Sports like football, cheer, volleyball and soccer share their experiences and feelings during their sentimental senior nights at MCHS.
On Oct. 24, 2025 the McHenry football team celebrated their seniors for their last game of the season. The team had a big win of 20-14 against Crystal Lake Central Tigers, ending their season and senior night on a happy note.
Cayden Behrendt, a senior varsity football player, expresses the emotions he felt with his team after playing their last game together. “You know I played with these guys for four years and there is a lot of bond and connection that we had together, so it was kind of sad knowing that was the last time I’d be able to play with them.”
The teams at MCHS help develop friendships and bonds that kids will cherish forever. Senior nights give an opportunity for all the seniors to celebrate the time and friendships they have made during their years at McHenry.
Morgan Windhauser, a senior varsity cheerleader, explains her mixed feelings she had on senior night. “On senior night I was pretty excited to finish the season, but it was sad leaving my best friends behind.”
Emotions are high as a senior. Realizing that they are off to college or other things, and also leaving their underclassman friends behind.
Cole Tapia, a senior varsity soccer player, says, “I was sad that four years came to an end that quickly… we all felt like we were a family and one whole team that worked well together to have a good season.”
Four years on a team is a lot of time to build connections and a family-like bond. That is what senior nights celebrate.
Senior Bella McClain expresses how she felt during her senior night for varsity volleyball. “It was so surreal walking into the gym with all of them sitting there and I was really emotional, and I felt very loved in that moment. You know it was really sad to leave all my friends. It was really like a family to me.”
Our McHenry Community High School senior nights celebrate our seniors with love, gifts and appreciation. Nights like this are important to make our seniors feel loved and appreciated.
