Just in time for the new season, the MCHS softball team got their brand new field with personalized perks.
During the 24-25 school year MCHS has done a semester-long construction to make a brand new and personalized field to help the girls with their brand new season.
“A new field brings a fresh life to our program,” Head coach Mikaela Mitsch said. “We have something to work hard for.
We know that this is a privilege and not an expectation. Now we need to show that we should have earned it, both on and off the field. They are excited to be on the new field every day, and we will not take it for granted.”
The school board voted in March of last year to approve the 1.8 million dollar softball field construction.
“It’s really nice because last year we didn’t get to go outside a lot,” junior varsity player Lyla Oeffling said. “But this year we’ve already been out there so many times, and I feel like it just really helps us.”
The softball team will be able to utilize and show off their new field in their home opener against Huntley.
