Super Bowl LIV was held this past Sunday, February 2. The Kansas City Chiefs played the San Francisco 49ers to close off the 100th season of NFL history.
The game was held at Miami Gardens Stadium in FloridaThe quarterbacks in this game were a pair of young superstars in the making. Patrick Mahomes and Jimmy Garoppolo both performed well, which made for a close game. The final score of the game was 31-20 with the Chiefs winning their first Super Bowl in 50 years.
This Super Bowl win for the Chiefs has sparked conversations of a future dynasty for Andy Reid, Mahomes, and their wide receiving core which promises to be productive for a handful of years. Mahomes is the most promising quarterback that the NFL has seen in decades, and there is an argument to be made about Mahomes being the most promising player of all time. After winning the MVP award in his first year as a starter, he responded with a Super Bowl victory in his sophomore season.
The 100th season of NFL history provided fans with an abundance of young talent, and a new wave of quarterbacks that can scramble out of the pocket and finish every play with positive yardage. Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, and Kyler Murray all are under 24 years old, and they all were able to shift the view on quarterbacks from older guys who can stand in the pocket and hit their receivers in stride, to more athletic, younger guys who can run a fast and explosive offense.
In addition to the game, the halftime show was the best performance in recent years according to many fans, as the performance was number one trending on twitter within minutes after it began. Musical performances included Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin. The performance was the highlight of the night for people who don’t enjoy the game.
