The annual Haunted Hayride held at Peterson Park in the weekends leading up to Halloween was canceled.
For the past 25 or more years, the Wonder Lake Water Ski Show team has held a Haunted Hayride at Peterson Park for four days in October.
The organization ended the event due to the cost of insurance and restrictions for this type of event; the event wasn’t financially feasible due to being a non-profit organization.
“So sad and unfortunate,” says community member Ron Ruzicka. “I loved working at the Haunted hayride.”
The haunted hayride was a favorite for many families, but many people are still excited to see what’s next.
“This has always been a favorite and then became a tradition,” states Noe Leigh, a community member. “The haunted hayride will be missed, though we are here and ready for what’s next.”
The Water Ski Show team has mentioned that they have new things in the works for the future.
“I loved the haunted hayride, it was one of my favorite fall activities as a kid and now it’s really bittersweet to see it go,” says senior Oceania Fonceca. “I can’t wait to see what else they have in the future.”
The Haunted Hayride is a staple and tradition that will be missed by many but everyone is excited to see what is in the works.
