The Sphere’s exterior projects a variety of images nightly, such as this emoji.

The Las Vegas Sphere opened this year on Sep 29, 2023 with the band U2 being the first performance featured at the recently built venue. The band displayed a beautiful concert for fans, giving them an experience they will never forget.

The Sphere was created with a sound system that gives a very immersive experience. Coming in at a cost of 2.3 billion dollars and taking about five years to build and complete, fans at the concert were given a full 360 degree view of stunning light shows.

But it does not stop there, there are some augmented reality (AR) glasses. Using these special glasses during the concert, fans can see interactive and visual props that synchronize with the music. People have described it as stepping into a dream world.

The Sphere can be used for more than just concerts, it is debuting with a “part sci-fi story, part nature documentary” that can be viewed from a complete 360 degree angle. The Sphere is currently classified as the world’s largest spherical object, along with having the world’s largest holographic display. The technology used in The Sphere is unlike anything that has been used in event venues in this country.

The Sphere is expected to bring in seven hundred- thirty million dollars per year to the city of Las Vegas. That income is going directly back into the community, highly benefiting Las Vegas and bringing in more funding for schools and other public needs.

The city of Las Vegas took a gamble on building The Sphere. The Sphere has become much more than just another event venue, with its multiple record breaking innovations, it is here to stay. The technology used in The Sphere shows the potential we have to create exciting new spaces.
