On Dec. 15, 2025, National Honors Society is hosting Cocoa Cram, a study period after school from 6-8 p.m., for students to come in to enjoy hot cocoa and study for their finals.
“Every year, the NHS puts out an opportunity for students to study for their finals,” NHS President Ayomide Adetowoju says. “This year’s theme is Polar Express so we’re having the volunteers from NHS dress up in pajamas to really give that Polar Express feel along with having train tickets.”
There’s going to be a raffle and the therapy dog will make an appearance.
“I think it’s really important because at NHS it really builds the standards on students priding themselves on their academic achievements and what better way to use those achievements than to help out their peers,” Adetowoju says.
Having an opportunity like this helps students build up the courage to ask questions and to get help.
Senior NHS member Megan Bloom says, “I believe that there are benefits to hosting an event like this because it incentivizes students to study for their finals because a lot of them have a bad habit of not studying and just waiting til the last minute.”
“Coco Cram,” is a great way to have students feel accomplished by being prepared for their finals.
“Doing something like this makes it a really fun environment that encourages students to study and to get together and have fun with it,” Bloom says.
Finals will occur on Dec. 18 and 19. The schedule will begin with periods 1, 2, 3 and 4 and day two will be periods 6, 7 ,8 and 5.
According to Signet Education, “when students don’t plan for final exams, they end up cramming in the last few days before the test or—worse—pulling an all-nighter. This approach is highly stressful and doesn’t yield the results most students hope to achieve.”
Be sure to take on this opportunity to get ahead and feel prepared when finals are coming up, especially when there’s treats involved.
