On Feb. 28, the United States and Israel began a joint military operation which resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader.
The United States and Israel launched attack missions against Iran (Operation Epic Fury) for several reasons. Iran was on the verge of getting nuclear weapons after being warned not to, Iran placed Ballistic Missiles in range of U.S. bases and allies like Israel and Saudi Arabia, Iran’s support for the “Axis of Resistance” and Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz (a path for 20% of the world’s oil). According to president Donald Trump and other top officials.
President Donald Trump said, “there’re just bad people. When you look at Oct. 7 and beyond Oct. 7, look at all the killing that they’ve done over the years for 47 years, and this had to be done. They were very close to a nuclear weapon.”
The attacks on Iran destroyed their navy ships, Air Force, Communications and all Telecommunications, according to Trump.
On Saturday March 7, Israel targeted Iran’s oil refineries, and storage facilities for the first time. This caused enormous fires and thick black smoke that filled the skies of Tehran.
A local told a BBC reporter, “it was as if night had turned into day.”
The next day, thick dark clouds blocked out the sun. A CNN reporter showed that the rain had blacked and appeared to be saturated with oil.
Iran launched drone and missile attacks targeting the U.S. military installations in Kuwait, Iraq. The drone attacks also led to a large government building getting engulfed in flames.
In Dubai, some passengers were taken into tunnels and flights were suspended after an Iranian drone struck nearby.
A southwest Airlines flight was diverted to Atlanta in response to suspected terrorist intentions.
When Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, gas prices rose roughly 20%. Due to it making it harder for the U.S. to get oil.
Trump has asked the countries in NATO that get their oil from the Hormuz straight to, “take care of that passage.” Though no NATO countries have committed to doing so.
