Construction underway as new plans for MCHS’s Freshman Campus parking system have closed Waukegan street. All traffic now enters and exits through John Street.
Recently, over the school’s March Spring Break, Freshman Campus Principal, Sean Sterner has officially initiated a parking lot reestablishment project that will significantly impact students throughout MCHS.
“The concept we had in mind for the parking lot reconstruction project was to provide a safer, more welcoming entrance for parents and students.” Sterner says.
Parents, staff and students alike are conflicted as the parking lot reconstruction project administers drastic changes that intend to linger throughout the end of the school year.
“The buses,” says Leah Pietraszewski, Assistant Principal at the Freshman Campus, “as well as everyone coming in from like, cars and stuff will be able to cross safely.”
Pietraszewski had significant influence over the parking lot reconstruction project, being that she and many other coordinators thoroughly organized the event.
“I really like how everything is organized,” Pietraszewski says, “I don’t think there’s anything I would change, because there’s a lot of planning that goes into it and this is very planned out so it wouldn’t affect the students or the school.”
As construction efforts begin to wane, it is important to notice that the MCHS staff work hard to make a positive impact within the community.
