On September 15, 2023 the United Auto Workers walked out after not getting the pay raise they wanted. This includes Ford Motor Co, General Motors Co. The companies have been slowly laying off people from different locations around the US with the most recent on October 2, 2023 General Motors let off 164 workers in Ohio, and Indiana, and Ford Motors let off another 330 workers in Ohio. With a total of nearly 13,000 workers being laid off total. On October 4, 2023 Ford negotiated a more than %20 wage increase to stop the strike.

On Saturday September 30, 2023 two people died after a boat crashed into their home in McHenry Illinois along the Fox River with very minor damage to the house. The married couple that were in the house were killed in the crash. The married couple that died in this crash were known as nothing less than kind-hearted.

MCHS’s girls golf competed at  sectionals on October 2, shooting a team best with the score of 362 with that being the end of the girls golf season. Boys golf also went to Sectionals October 2 with their best shooter Alex Shawn shooting 77, just barely missing his chance to advance. With the end of the season the boys and girls golf teams can go home knowing they did better than last year, and are ready for the next season to come.
