The White House social media accounts have been using memes, internet trends, and AI generated illustrations to spread support for President Donald Trump’s policy plans.
Back on February 14 social media posts included what could be considered harmful rhetoric about immigration and mass deportation and portrayals of Trump as a “king.” The White House social media Instagram account sparked controversy by uploading a post saying “Roses are red, violets are blue, come here illegally, and we’ll deport you.”

A comment read, “This is embarrassing as a country that our official White House page is full of memes and especially on a day where we’re supposed to be celebrating love and respect. This is what America has come to.”
Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation sent out an immediate press release on the post.
“The White House’s post on social media on Valentine’s Day is incredibly insulting,” said Miranda. “Especially to immigrant families across the country… This is an obvious attempt to paint all undocumented immigrants as a danger to our society when the vast majority of undocumented immigrants do not have a criminal record and have been waiting for Congressional action to adjust their status.”
On February 18 the White House took to social media a video with the caption “ASMR: Illegal Alien Deportation Flight,” The 41 second video includes an immigrant with his hands cuffed in front of him and ankles bound by a chain as he walks past an officer and a close-up of a man having his handcuffs linked together, a man’s feet in chains as he walks up a stairway to a plane, and a man about to board the aircraft.
The video has reached 104 million views and 96k likes on X and 74k likes on Instagram.

“Illegal or not, they’re still humans, and this blatantly dehumanizing video should be bashed on,” An X commenter says ““YAY! Other people suffering!” This from the White House Official page? America has fallen.”
The next day on February 19 the White House took to social media an AI portrait of President Trump with the caption, “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!” –President Donald J. Trump.”
The post shows a fake magazine cover depicting an illustration of Trump smiling in a suit and wearing a bejeweled golden crown with the saying, “LONG LIVE THE KING”
Many took to social sharing their thoughts on the post, some Instagram comments read, “it is gonna be in an APUSH DBQ in a few years” and “what in the dictatorship of this.”

New York Governor, Kathy Hochul rejected Trump’s and the White House’s posts in a press conference on February 19, “I’m here to say New York hasn’t labored under a king in over 250 years and we are not …going to start now,” Hochul said. “The streets of this city, where battles were fought, we stood up to a king and we won then and we will now.”
Another post was posted on March 16, with three images side by side his official portrait from his first term, a picture of Biden’s autopen and then finally his official portrait for his second term.
Many in the comments shared their opinions.
“Imagine using the official POTUS account to insult the previous president even though you’ve already won the election,”said one user.
Others said, “We have a 12 year old boy for president.”
