On February 10th, MCHS held their annual battle of the bands, featuring groups such as Robot Man, Ordinary Hero, Consequence Bronson, The Sound, and 2022 champions, Standalone. The show was a resounding success, with Staff Infection opening the show with a bang and the following acts raising the energy in the room with their renditions of music from different genres and styles.

This year’s event was held in the MCHS freshmen campus auditorium, allowing the audience to fully participate by singing, dancing, and cheering along with the bands. All in all, the event was a night of great entertainment and school spirit as the audience bonded over their shared love of music.

“Battle of the Bands is an opportunity for musicians to showcase their talents in a competitive format. You never know who will surprise you with their talents at Battle of the Bands.” Otto Corzo, member of Staff Infection explains.

With groups consisting of choir and band students, as well as students from other areas of the arts, the show was a wonderful showcase of the talent that exists within MCHS.

“Music has always been a passion of mine, and I feel like Battle of the Bands is a great way to express my music and creativity,” says Standalone member Victor Camacho. “We’re actually in the process of trying to sign up for gigs around town, and we have gotten a couple this summer.”

Battle of the Bands creates an exciting platform for musicians to showcase their talents and gain valuable exposure while also being able to connect with a wide array of fans who love music as much as they do.

“My favorite part overall was the preparation for Battle of the Bands. It was fun stressing out, ordering pizza, and singing until 10 p.m. since we were all in it together.” Joseph Sacramento, from The Sound, states.

This event continues to bring students together, whether that be them forming a band together to compete in the battle or just enjoying themselves in the audience. Every musician came together to make an enjoyable and unforgettable show for all who attended.
