“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” released in 1989, is the perfect family film to watch this holiday season — and a classic in its own right.

“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” is a humorous throwback that’s perfect to watch with family and friends this holiday season. The movie stars big names such as Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Randy Quaid, Johnny Galecki, Juilette Lewis and many more.

The plot follows a family that is just trying to celebrate Christmas together, but they keep running into complications. “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” can be looked at as a cheesy movie by some people, however the gags in the movie are clever, funny and they don’t get old or repetitive. Nowadays when someone hears about an older comedy movie, people just assume that the jokes and acting haven’t aged well, but this movie was ahead of its time. It is safe to say that humor was a little different back in the day, but it is clear that the movie was geared towards a younger audience with more childlike humor, which still fits that demographic today.

Whether it is from a sad scene or a happy scene, the directors did a fantastic job on setting the tone and feel to each part of the story. The music choice for the movie compliments this very well, there isn’t one bad song in the movie. Each song fits the scenes and mood in the film perfectly.

There are also a few sequels to the movie which are also great, they don’t feel outplayed nor do they give off the idea that the movies aren’t just a big money grab.

To sum it up, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” is such a good, classic movie that really does not miss on any of the jokes throughout the whole movie.  The humor is absolutely amazing and super clever, it just doesn’t get old. “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” is a solid movie to watch with your family during the holiday season.
