Area veterans came home from a four day Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. to a rally in the Upper Campus’ main gym on Sunday afternoon where they were greeted with applause, flowers and signs from MCHS students, including cheerleaders and the choir, as well as the people of McHenry County.

“A lot of the veterans are Vietnam vets, and when they came home from war – they were not received warmly by the public,” social science division chair Sean Sterner said. “One of our goals with this event was to change that narrative and give them the welcome home they deserve.”

This was a memorable way to end an already memorable trip for these veterans.
